Twitter moves to Facebook-esque layout.

April 23, 2014

A new day has dawned. A new layout has been launched. All of those who are switching on and over to the new Twitter layout may be pleasantly surprised. At first glance you may assume, and rightly so, that this is a less developed version of the Facebook timeline launched a back in 2011, (come on Twitter, catch up!) However, this electronic socialite really enjoys the new layout. It’s clean. It’s informative. It’s not as bad as I thought.

Getting started your Home, Notifications and #Discover are not noticeably different. This allows us non-change lovers to be slowly eased into the process. Especially those of us who are used to navigating this site for hours per day will appreciate not being ripped of all our comforts. The ‘Me’ section is where the action happens. The navigation is fairly straightforward and everything just feels bigger and brighter. My most favourite feature overall is the locked header ribbon. Simplistic but perfectly useful when you get lost scrolling down someone’s feed.

So all of you skeptics, let me remind you of a time before Facebook timeline, a time when you said that the layout was fine the way it is and there were no improvements to be made. All I’m sayin’ is give Twitter a chance.
