Meet the faces of the people who make a difference.
I’m a bit of a serial ecommerce entrepreneur, having co-founded onenest.com and Ethical Superstore in a past life. These experiences really made me think that there is a real gap in the market for an agency that offers expert ecommerce consulting – consulting that can really accelerate the growth of ecommerce businesses. So in 2012 I founded Venture Stream to do just that. The rest, as they say, is history.
Hiring employee number one was pretty cool and even now we’re a team of 25+, every new hire still feels like an exciting moment. Being named one of the fastest-growing tech companies in the North was awesome too.
To apply best-practice but also (and perhaps mostly) some straight-forward common sense to ecommerce marketing and design. It’s our job to keep improving our clients’ websites and delivering profitable marketing campaigns, but it’s also our job to keep our clients focused on the core things that will move their business forward.
Growing our team from three folks sharing an office into a multi award-winning ecommerce consultancy.
I thrive on helping Venture Stream to grow and develop as an agency, introducing new working relationships to our expanding team with a range of national and global businesses. Helping businesses understand how implementing tailored marketing campaigns can help them to succeed in meeting core business goals and then delivering demonstrable results and great ROI is truly rewarding.
I’m proud of having played an integral part in growing Venture Stream’s client portfolio to what it is today and being appointed CCO in September 2019.
I love; things that make me laugh, getting creative and being unapologetically ambitious – all things that I’m fortunate enough to get to do every day working at Venture Stream.
Finishing university in 2011 with a 1st Class BA Hons in Advertising & Design, I went on to secure several design and marketing roles, working with leading national and global brands. Since joining the Venture Stream team in 2014 I have loved working in a fast-paced agency environment with some awesome clients and am extremely proud to have been appointed Creative Director in September 2019.
Working with leading ecommerce brands, getting creative on branding, logo and design projects and coordinating email marketing campaigns that both deliver a good yield and that customers enjoy receiving.
I love working with a range of clients and tailoring the way I work to meet the individual needs of each business. What works for one client doesn’t always work for another, so being able to adapt my thinking and having the challenge of finding unique solutions keeps me motivated. Ensuring several clients’ ecommerce sites are running smoothly while implementing new features daily can mean juggling quite a bit, but I like to be kept busy.
Working with Planet Organic to help deliver their busiest ever Black Friday and Christmas.
Managing a paid budget well is all about striking the right balance – optimising bids and channels across every campaign in order to achieve a great ROI. For me, the best thing about working in paid search is that the best approach is unique to each client, and there is always more to be done. It’s always possible to try a new channel or tweak a campaign to improve performance even more.
Improving results for clients year on year and being crowned Venture Stream’s table tennis champion.
I’ve always loved using words and creating stories, but more than that, being challenged to think about how to use words effectively for a set purpose. Whether for an article to tell a story, for a website to perfectly convey a business’s values or for a press release to share truly newsworthy content, taking a client’s vision and successfully putting it into words is so rewarding to me.
Since joining Venture Stream, my highlights would be achieving national press coverage for a number of clients and being shortlisted for an award.
I’m a bit of a data nerd and love to solve problems so specialising in SEO just made sense. I enjoy looking at a website and seeing what makes it tick; analysing the technical issues, the content, the user journey and putting everything into a big spreadsheet (bliss) and working with the team to show a site off.
Helping to organise and speaking at the Tyneside Cinema for Venture Stream’s first Digital Marketing Masterclass.
I love the creative problem-solving process that goes into bringing clients marketing ideas to life. Whether it be behind the scenes implementing an impactful SEO strategy, driving qualified traffic with targeted outreach or improving clients online presence with keyword focussed copy, helping brands connect with their audience in an innovative, results-driven way is so rewarding.
Joining Venture Stream and moving into a client-facing position is a highlight in itself. Working across a diverse range of accounts challenges me to understand each clients individual marketing needs and keeps me creatively engaged – I love that no two days are ever the same!
With paid search every account is unique, whether it be different products or objectives each account presents a new set of challenges. I enjoy finding and using different strategies in order to deliver positive results to each individual client.
My highlight so far is being made a permanent member of the team having begun my time at Venture Stream as an apprentice.
I love having the opportunity to work with clients from a wide variety of different industries, with each account bringing its own unique targets and challenges. Getting to understand a business and what their goals are is imperative, only then can you build a campaign that’s geared towards achieving those outcomes. With the number of paid search platforms and tools ever growing and changing there’s always things to test, tweak and refine, meaning there’s always room to optimise and improve results.
Having a low budget campaign that I ran for client Aquacadabra shortlisted for a UK Search Award.
Magento development is a very specific type of web development and comes with its own challenges – but that’s why I enjoy it so much. I also have a passion for ecommerce, so working to build best-practice online retail environments and quickly problem-solve any issues is the perfect job for me.
Every day is different and I really enjoy working with a range of clients. I also get to hone my Magento skills and work from home too, which is nice.
I love being creative and bringing the client’s verbal objectives to a visual masterpiece. Being challenged by clients putting their trust in you to represent their brand is something I really enjoy and keeps me motivated every day.
Getting to know the dogs and taking them home for sleepovers! And in the meantime getting creative and doing some amazing design work for some top clients.
